Check it out; the Community Aquatic and Recreation Complex (CARC) is now open to the public.  I missed the grand opening however I had the opportunity to tour the facility last evening.  It is quite impressive with the six lane competitive swimming pool and the warm water therapeutic pool. The aquatics and fitness portion of the CARC is 32,500 square feet and includes a physical therapy facility which will be run by Garrett Memorial Hospital.

Tentative programming for the aquatics portion of the CARC is to include swim teams, learn-to-swim programs, arthritis programs, scuba, kayak and canoe programs, intramural sports and open/lap swimming. Tentative gymnasium programming includes GC Athletics, community functions such as graduations and concerts, and community sports leagues. Programming in cooperation with the Garrett County Memorial Hospital Wellness Division is being developed.
It sounds like annual memberships will be very reasonable and I know that my family is looking to take advantage of this new facility this winter.  I hope you will too.
